Antony Gormley : Together and Apart, 1998 (placed at Wanås 2001)

Född/born 1950, London. Works in London

The solitary male body standing in the park is joined by two men who try to interact with him.

The static figure is a full scale sculpture of the artist's own body. The face has no defined features, the hands are attached to the body and the legs so close that the feet are on top of each other, in a quite uncomfortable position. The figure becomes a closed creature with a superficial contact with the space around him and he seems to stare at an indefinite point of the ground.

The title of the sculpture stresses the solitude of the individual regardless of the company.
